25% - 28% of the population can not detox mold well according to their HLA genes. Yes, mold can make you sick! The overgrowth of mold fungus recirculates and multiplies inside of your body causing cellular damage and further decay. Cellular damage leads to breakdown of the bodily processes and could lead to accumulating toxicity causing a wide array of disease types. The usual symptoms are decline and breakdown over time, if left untreated, and living in a mold environment.
Mold toxicity kills around 130,000 people per year. These are just the statistics on the people who have been diagnosed. Because mold illness symptoms mimic over 300 other diseases, often times mold toxicity is overlooked and not tested for by mainstream medical doctors.
It is very common in people with mold sickness to experience allergic reactions to things that they were never allergic to before mold exposure. MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) affects the vast majority of those suffering with toxic mold exposure.
You can go to your doctor and ask for a mycotoxin urine test through Mosaic Diagnostics in Kansas. Your doctor may prefer to do a blood test but this urine test comes highly recommended from mold professionals. Your insurance may cover the cost. If you need an alternate route, please contact support@moldpoisoning.com for a referral to a licensed professional.
Mold Testing in Your Home
I have used the petri dish testing from the hardware store, twice, years before I found out that mold was taking me down. The tests were not very accurate, otherwise I would not have gone on to suffer for a few more years. I do not personally recommend these tests based on my experiences.
The test that I use is an air sample test. You can go to My Mold Detective dot com and buy the air sampling machine which is less than $75. You can also buy the air cassette cartridges to put in the machine for testing. This is a very accurate test. I have also heard from many people that the ERMI test is good.
Once you have your air test machine and air cassette cartridges, you can either send your test back to My Mold Detective for analysis (read directions because they may require an outside sample as well), but My Mold Detective has a different spore count structure to the test and it’s not the structure that is typically used by hired professionals. Yes, it does work and they are accurate but the spore count is not in the same structure that most mold testing companies use so you can not compare it to typical standards (2000 spore count maximum). They give you low, normal, high, etc but not actual spore counts, unless that has changed.
I have researched and found that the best lab to send your air cartridges to is a company called IMS Laboratory. Most labs will not take air samples from home owners but this company does. Most companies only deal with licensed professionals. You can also buy your air cassette cartridges from this company and even rent an air test machine.

You can also call a company called Pure Maintenance. They are located across the United States and I cannot say enough good about them. They test and treat the areas and they also guarantee their work for one year. If you have not removed the mold (renovation), you may have to do this Pure Maintenance treatment every year. Until the mold source is gone, mold will continue to grow.
I have personally used this company and it has saved me thousands of dollars. I had to throw everything out the first time that we gutted (furniture, mattress, 85% of belongings) but as we continued gutting, and finding more mold on the second time around, we used Pure Maintenance. Almost everything can be saved! I personally tested two more times after the treatment (spread out over 2 years, after renovations and Pure Maintenance) and the mold counts were way below 2000, which is the most that they can be for safety standards, even for normal healthy people.
As we've said before, 25% (up to 28%) of the population can not detox mold well. For these people, it is necessary to bind the mold out of their body, in order to feel better. This is typically done through the stool.
Mold binders can be prescribed, eaten through natural foods, taken in the form of supplements, and more. The important thing is to detox mold and other toxins out of your body so that you have a fighting chance.
Detoxing the pathways through cell activation is also a great way to detox the cells, activate the body to repair the cells, and to activate the cell pathways to produce more antioxidants. See detox solutions tab for more info.
Mold Binders
What is a binder and how does it work?
Binders are used to capture mycotoxins (spin off from mold spores) in the body and force them to be excreted through the feces (stool). This process normally works through a negative/positive charge. Most toxins and disease carry a positive electric charge in them. Binders carry a negative charge. When the two are present together, they are bound together and excreted through the feces (stool). Binders can cause constipation, so it was recommended to me to take an activated multi mineral supplement to help the stool stay regular.
There are many ways to bind mold out of the body. Some of these include:
My favorite is CSM Powder, otherwise known as Cholestyramine.
CSM is a compounded RX medication that you can have prescribed by your doctor, once you have determined that the mold levels in your body are high. You will want to get the PURE CSM Powder because it is the type that my mold specialist prescribes. It has to say PURE, no sweeteners or additives. It is white, not orange, and not over the counter. This medicine is often otherwise prescribed for stomach acid as well as high cholesterol.
Mold testing is the first step in determining the mold levels in your body. 25%-28% of the population has the HLA genes which do not allow for ample detoxification of mold from the body, therefor a mold binder is necessary. (The name of the test for mold in the body is called a Mycotoxin urine test and it is available through a licensed practitioner who goes through Mosaic Diagnostics in Kansas).
Welchol is another RX medication for binding mold and it is also available through a licensed practitioner.
Activated Charcoal also known as carbon, binds itself to mycotoxins produced by mold. Again, it has a negative charge while toxins have a positive charge and the two are bound together and excreted. It is recommended more for sudden mold exposure and not suggested to take for longer than a few days at a time, according to some researchers.
Bentonite Clay which can be ingested in small amounts or used in detox baths
Chlorella(a form of green algae) not to be ingested for longer than 2-3 months. Can make the skin extra sensitive to the sun, wear sunblock.
Zeolite Clay A silica based volcanic ash which carries a naturally occurring negative charge. Again, many toxins carry a positive charge, including mold. Using a negatively charged substance like zeolite attracts and holds the mycotoxins so that elimination is possible.
Microbe Formula's also has a great binder with lots of wonderful reviews.

The answer is an astounding Yes! So many people with mold brain experience this, including myself, when I was unknowingly suffering from mold. Mold crosses the blood brain barrier and it messes with short term memory, loss of word recollection, loss of remembering dreams, irritability, anger, anxiety, depression, and so much more! Mold poisoning is often misdiagnosed as Dementia and Alzheimer's disease, as well as many others, due to the extreme brain fog.
For 25% - 28% of the population, mold is our kryptonite. It's because of our genes and DNA. We were born with the inability to detox mold well. It feels like you're living with a cold or flu, the whole time. It makes you sleep, which is best for healing, and it steals your energy and muscle strength from you. It takes everything just to stay above water.
